Reboot and select proper boot device

Características: Windows XP Home 512mb,intel,1G..

buenas tardes estimado amigos, bueno le comento, mi pc no prende normalmente, ayer cuando kise prenderla me aparecio un mensaje en un fondo negro que decia : "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device" ..... y con un cursor parpadenado....
espero que puedan ayudar y decir que paso con la pc y k me sugieren que haga.. desde ya agradesco sus respuestas,muchas gracias

Comentarios adicionales: El problema surgió justo despues de agregar o quitar hardware en el PC.

No está reconociendo el SO. Mira en primer lugar si el disco duro lo reconoce en el Setup. En todo caso, abre el ordenador y comprueba las conesiones del disco.

bueno gracias por tu respuesta , acabo de abrir el ordenador y si esta todo bien conectado y el setup tambien reconoce el disco duro... Que otra cosa le puede haber pasado ???

Que se haya ido el sistema. Inicia desde el CD de XP como si fueras a instalarlo de nuevo y mira a ver si despues de aceptar la licencia (F8) te dice que hay una versión anterior y que si quieres repararla (R). Si te lo dice le das a R. Si no, aborta la instalación (F3) y nos dices.
