¿Un módulo RAM puede anular otro?

Características: Windows XP Home Pentium 4 1,5Mhz 512 Ram 19 Gb RAM.

Hola amigos.
El problema que se me presenta es que el ordenador no me detecta un tercer módulo de memoria RAM de 256 que inserto.
Los dos primeros son de la misma marca y el tercero no. Quizás ese sea el problema. Pero Instalando sólo dos módulos, sean de la misma marca o no, los reconoce indicándome que tengo 512 Mb en el sistema. Si instalo el tercero, (y los zócalos todos están bien porque he probado uno a uno), no me reconoce el tercero porque sólo indica que tengo 512Mb en vez de los 768 que deberían ser.
Supuestamente la placa base admite de sobra esa memoria:
Placa base: Chaintech 9BJA
Main Memory Three 168-pin SDR DIMMs up to 3GB
Supports PC133 SDRAM modules

Tengo otro módulo de 128Mb (diferente de las otras dos marcas), y cuando lo instalo sí me reconoce que existe sin problema porque me da los 640Mb

¿ALguna idea de qué puede pasar?

Gracias por la respuesta Caterpilar.
He leido lo que me has comentado. En principio creo que la incompatibilidad se podría producir por la posición de los chips de memoria. Sin embargo poniendo un módulo single side y otro double side, reconoce los dos y son de distintas marcas. El problema es al insertar un tercero. Como he dicho, dos de los módulos coinciden en marca, tipo, modelo etc. y el otro no. Pero como acabo de poner, mezclando dos, reconoce ambos.

Pego las caracteríasticas que Everquest me pone de ambos módulos, (los que son diferentes) a ver si alguien puede detectar algo extraño.

Quizás esto tenga que ver con la solución a mi problema o quizás debería ponerlo como otra pregunta, pero me he fijado que, da igual el módulo RAM que use, no puedo acceder a la BIOS. Aparece la pantalla en negro y un línea azul, (color típico de la pantalla de BIOS), en la parte inferior. Ahí se queda atascado el ordenador sin dejarme acceder a la BIOS.
Si no intento el acceso el Windows carga con normalidad, aunque, como he dicho en el inicio de mi problema, no me reconoce uno de los módulos RAM. ¿Tengo que actualizar la BIOS o el problema puede ser otro? No sé si ambos problemas pueden estar relacionados o no o si uno solucionará el otro.

Hola. El problema puede estar en la BIOS, pero no en que la actualices o no, sino en que se haya estropeado. Por lo que he visto, salvo la tasa de refresco los dos módulos son practicamente iguales (aunque esto, tratandose de memorias SDR no significa que sean compatibles), pero el problema te lo da con ambas independientes, por lo que el que tengan tasas de refresco diferentes no es el problema.
De todas formas, puedes probar a volver a cargar (o actualizar) el BIOS, pero si el fallo está en la BIOS puede quedar inutilizada la placa base.
